Mark E. Borofsky CCE, CEW

Mark E. Borofsky is founder and president of CORE Strategies, L.L.C., providing credit management and credit training assistance to companies needing to improve cash flow, increase sales, and/or reduce bad debt. Prior to founding CORE in 2003, he was Director of National and International Credit for Pioneer Balloon Company, one of the world’s largest balloon manufacturers.

The NACM 2001 National Credit Executive of the Year, he is also one of 120 Certified Expert Witnesses (CEW) in the United States, and one of the 10 who actually prepare defenses and testify in bankruptcy and preference cases. In addition to NACM and FCIB involvement, he leads seminars around the nation and writes articles for credit-related publications.

Joseph Chevalier is Executive Vice President of First American Bank, a Chicago area financial institution. A native of Burgundy, France, he came to the United States after college, received an MBA from DePaul University, and for a time was the Commercial Officer at the French Trade Commission in Chicago.

He then joined the city’s international banking community and under his management La Salle National Bank’s share of Chicago’s international banking business rose from 4% to over 33%, the largest in the area. When an opportunity for innovation was presented, he moved to First American Bank where he organized an international division and then launched his unique Confirmed Purchase Order in 2000.

A partner in the law firm of Creim, Macias, Koenig & Frey LLP, Bill Creim received his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from UCLA where he earned Phi Beta Kappa honors, and his legal degree from the University of Southern California where he served as an editor of the Law Review and received Order of the Coif honors. Romelio Hernández is President and Director of Litigation at HMH Legal, a professional corporation specializing in credit and collection services in Mexico. Based in Tijuana, Baja California, he works extensively assisting foreign exporting companies in providing guidance and general counsel to mitigate risks of selling internationally, and to litigate throughout the country.

A current member of the Commercial Law League of America, the International Bar Association, the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary, he graduated from Universidad Autónoma de Baja California and was admitted to practice law in Mexico in 1997.

Judd Holroyde
Judd Holroyde

Judd Holroyde is Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo where he heads Global Product Management, and leads the overall global strategy of the Wholesale Services Division. Since joining the bank in 1997, he has focused on looking at banking from the customer’s viewpoint; managing service strategy around the emergence of the Internet banking channel, new product development, and new global distribution channels. Key successes include development of an industry-leading corporate internet portal, and the significant expansion of global banking services.

He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Pepperdine University.

Jeff Jankowiak

Jeff Jankowiak is a partner at International Risk Consultants, Inc., where he oversees activities in the western U.S. A member of the largest global network of trade credit insurance brokers, IRC specializes in credit and political risk insurance, credit risk mitigation, and trade finance structuring.

Previously, as Vice President of Marketing, Finance & Administration at capital equipment manufacturer Cozzini, Inc., he developed and operated a trade finance and credit group for short- and medium-term credit exposures, and created structured trade programs for Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Russia. Before that he was Chief Operating Officer of an agricultural consulting service.

An active member of FCIB (NACM) and a member of its Board of Directors, he is a graduate of Michigan State University.

Brian Jarmain
Brian Jarmain

Brian Jarmain is Director of Business Development for the Vendor Financial Services Group at Silver Point Capital, a specialty finance and investment company with over $9 billion in capital that focuses on companies experiencing financial and operational distress, bankruptcy, and other special situations.

He has 10+ years of experience trading the credit risk of bankrupt and troubled companies. Prior to joining Silver Point Capital in 2003, he worked at MJ Whitman/Third Avenue Management for several years, and previously was a member of the group that underwrote the first Claims Put Option of significant size in the distressed debt marketplace—a $15 million Put Option on accounts receivable due from Kmart Corp.

A graduate of Boston College, he holds a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, and is currently a candidate for a degree in credit analysis from New York University.

David Josephson
David Josephson

David Josephson is Western Regional Director of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, responsible for the development of export finance transactions with exporters, banks, and commercial lenders in eleven western states.

Prior to joining Ex-Im, he was U.S. Commercial Director for The ARBI Group, a Brazilian transnational investment company; and headed structured finance and trade banking units of Union Bank and Standard Chartered Bank Limited in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, London, and Brazil.

A Lieutenant (j.g.) USN who served aboard a missile frigate and in coastal and riverine warfare operations in Vietnam, he has a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy and an M.A. from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Dean Kaplan began his career with the international consulting firm KPMG, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, business planning, and bankruptcies and reorganizations. He then become owner/operator of a manufacturing firm which achieved nearly 500% growth in seven years, and then served as CFO of two venture-backed high tech companies, before becoming a partner at The Kaplan Group, a boutique commercial collection agency.

He has a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College, an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, and frequently speaks to credit management groups. They give rave reviews to his “Survivor” style presentations which come complete with teams, immunity challenges, and a grand prize reward for the survivor.

Kauffman joined Fasken Martineau as a partner in 2006, and is a member of the Toronto office’s Insolvency and Restructuring Group of this leading international business law and litigation firm. He previously practiced law at another commercial law firm in Toronto where he established and co-chaired their Restructuring and Insolvency Group.

He is a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, and former Chairman of the Ontario Bar Association’s Insolvency Section. Recognized by LEXPERT as a consistently recommended practitioner in the area of insolvency and corporate restructuring, he appears in the Best Lawyers in Canada 2006 Edition. Prior to this period, he served in the office of the Los Angeles City Attorney as a prosecutor and then as Special Counsel. He has 10 years of experience as a Houston-based entrepreneur in the information technology and software arena. Rohit Patel is the Vice President of Credit and Customer Operations for Warner Home Video, which has the largest distribution infrastructure in the global video marketplace. He is also the Global Order to Cash process owner for the SAP implementation. Prior to joining WHV, he was the head of CCO at Sony Computer Entertainment America in Foster City, California.

Born in Tanzania, Africa, he was schooled in England where he received a B.A. degree in Finance from Sheffield University. He also has a degree in Business Administration from California’s Fresno State University and now resides in Orange County.

Jeff Tinker is Senior Vice President with Wells Fargo’s Wholesale Product and Market Strategy Group in San Francisco, responsible for developing and executing product strategy with particular emphasis on electronic solutions.  His team works closely with customers to understand and assess their needs and translate them into new products and services.

He previously managed the Online Merchant Services Group, and the Executive Office for Wells Fargo Card Services. Prior to that, he focused on the financial services industry as Senior Manager of the Strategic Services Group of Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). He has a B.S. in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis, and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Paul L. Watts

Paul L. Watts is a Business Development Officer with Export-Import Bank of the United States, the agency charged by Congress to provide credit assistance to and for small U.S. businesses exporting American-made goods or services to foreign buyers.

Prior to joining Ex-Im Bank in 2006, he was involved in commercial and mortgage banking in the San Francisco Bay Area. His resume includes organizing an independent national bank, heading a local mortgage banking company, and directing a professional association of mortgage brokers. He is a graduate of the University of California’s Haas School of Business.
